Reimagining Our Community Day: With Fresh Activities and a Valley Focus

Sugarbush’s Community Day dates back to before I joined the resort in 2011. The inception of the event came partially from the fact that we knew so many second homeowners were here for various homeowners weekends and wanted to provide a resort update and some fun activities on the Saturday of Indigenous Peoples’ Weekend. That’s how it lived for a number of years, frankly to the point where it perhaps got a little stale. This year, we’ve decided to remedy that.

We’re taking our Community Day and completely revamping it. We’re bringing in some new excitement while still keeping what everyone loved about it (I see you pumpkin carvers). It’s getting moved to the Sunday of that weekend, with Oktoberfest now on the Saturday. The goal specifically for Community Day is to shift the focus of the event to be more of a celebration of our community: the people and organizations that make this such a vibrant place.

As such, we’ve worked with our infamous Waitsfield Farmers Market to bring up a number of local artisans and food purveyors from the market. They’ll be joining us in the Lincoln Peak Courtyard all day. We’ve also invited a number of our local partners to not only be here to table, but to offer up some fun activations relevant to their field (check out the tentative list below).

Sprinkled throughout this celebration of the Valley will be food, drink, live music, and fun activities. Favorites are returning like scenic lift rides, pumpkin carving, and axe throwing. And as the final piece to the puzzle, John Hammond will still be giving his State of the Resort speech. This will be in the afternoon vs. early morning, where you can hear what’s new this season and ask any questions you might have heading into the winter.

We’re quite excited about the revamp here. I’m hopeful over time this day begins to live closer to its name by focusing on what makes this place so special: the community. I look forward to seeing you there.
